Success.

Hello there,
The other day I went shopping with my mom. I needed (and actually still need) some kind of swim suit for the Rome trip I'll be going on in September, preferably a new bikini bottom that fits to my bikini top. So we went to a sports wear store that had a lot of things on sale. I didn't find anything like a swim suit but instead I found a skirt and I saved an incredible fifteen Euros! This is written on the price tag. It made me smile and think of Elizabeth who has a fashion blog that I'm following.

This is supposed to be written on every price tag. The purpose of fashion, in my opinion, is not to impress others, to fit into society, to display status or money. Fashion and clothing are supposed to be for you and for you only. No one else needs to care about what you wear. Fashion was made to make you feel good. Especially to make you feel good about yourself; no matter how you look, your attitude, your character or what size you wear. I bought this skirt for me because I like skirts better than shorts and I really liked this skirt. People might not like it or think it doesn't look good on me but why would they care? And more importantly, why would I care about what they think of my clothes? I don't. I wear what I like. I have my own kind of fashion and if I don't go with the trend, that's fine. I think a lot of people still need to realize this.

That was Monday. If you think that was a great deal, it gets even better! Tuesday I went to Gütersloh with my sister to continue my swim suit search and I'd heard that C&A, a big clothing store, had sunglasses on sale. Since I needed some of those, as well, my sister and I hit the city. I still didn't get a new bikini bottom, but instead two new sunglasses for four Euros each instead of ten, a new DVD from Darleen for my birthday (Blind Side), together we bought "I am Number Four" on DVD, and Darleen also got herself the first "Transformers" movie (which I like a lot, too). Back at home, I went to a shoe store in town that also sells purses and I got a new purse there for thirty Euros instead of fourty! So another ten Euros saved! THAT'S what I call lucky! :D This week was a very successful week, indeed.

I was kind of in a shopping mood, so I ordered two new books for myself online; "I am Number Four" and "Beastly". I'm totally into love stories at the moment. I'm really happy right now, especially with myself. I haven't been at peace with my life like this in a while. I just sometimes wish that there was someone who'd care for me, love me; someone to hang out with, to have fun with, to cuddle with. But I'm not really in the mood for, much less up for, a relationship at the moment. Especially not with any of the guys I know here. I am still sick of Germany, my German life, German guys and their way of dating/relationships. I like the idea of the American way a lot better. It's hard to explain to people who don't know the difference. At the moment I am really excited about living my life for me, loving and enjoying myself, doing things for myself. I really do enjoy my single life. But someone to hold me sometimes and be there for me would be nice. I guess the girls reading this understand what I mean. ;)

Jayanah wrote this in her blog today. Had to copy it because it fits this post so perfectly. :)

100

Hello there,
Wow! This is my 100th post! Isn't that crazy? I blogged 100 times. About my old new life in Germany. Daily life. Fun times with my family and friends. Events. School. Sport. In two words: my life. It's probably not very interesting or exciting. Definitely not exciting. But I started this blog in order to keep up my English skills and improve my writing abilities. I started it in order to keep in touch with my friends in the US and maybe even get closer to my friends in Germany.
What I didn't think is that I would learn so much about myself. I was never the kind of person to write diaries, journals. I probably started like ten or more but I never had the patience to fill a whole journal, up to the last page. I had a journal in America and I was pretty consistend, I'd say. I like reading through it sometimes. It brings back a lot of memories. But this blog is different than that journal. I write a lot. Many thoughts. Pictures. Tons of memories. There's a lot more to it than I could ever keep in a journal. And also I managed to blog a whole year! It's a year in about two weeks. That is a miracle in itself. That I managed to keep blogging for so long. Why is that? I don't really know. Maybe because I know people read it? I know it's not a whole lot of people but it still is a good feeling knowing people are interested in you and your life and where you're at right now. Maybe it's because if I didn't make at least a year (as it says in the description of this blog) it would be another thing that I didn't finish? I'd disappoint myself. Maybe it's because typing is an easier and faster way of journalling? Probably. I guess it's a mix of all of the above.
Blogging has become a passion of mine. And I guess an addiction as well.

So at this point I think I need to thank a few people. Jayanah was the first who told me about blogspot and her blog. I started reading hers and also Jessi's, Kaile's and Elizabeth's. They were the first to inspire me to start one myself. Also I need to thank my mom and my grandparents who always read what I have to say, even when they don't approve of it or don't like it. We sometimes fought about it. But all in all I think it was a good idea. I learned a lot about myself. And writing also made me read other blogs consistently. The blogs I'm following inspired me in so many ways.
So yeah, thanks to everyone who's reading. :)

Eileen

Krach am Bach '11

Hello there,
Life's been busy lately. And not. Kind of a mix.
Last weekend I went to a festival called Krach am Bach. It was fun. Lots of fun! We stayed from Friday to Sunday and watched many great bands and musicians perform! I especially loved the lesser known bands. It was mainly Rock, Punk Rock, Alternative. It was great! Friday we had pretty good weather! I even got a little bit tan! Saturday was... well, wet. The concerts started at 1 pm and it started to rain an hour later. Of course we didn't have our raincoats with us so our sweatshirts were wet and cold. But it still was a whole lot of fun! :)
I love concerts and festivals! :) Rock am Ring is hopefully following next ;)

They were fun, too! And I really liked the front singer. :))

This is Jeff Aug. He is just amazing! He only played the guitar but he is so incredibly talented!

These guys are from Iceland. So fun! I really liked them! They did a good show, too.

I'm excited to tell you more when I get back.

Hope you have an awesome weekend!

on the run.

Hello there,
Since I'm finally on Summer break, I started jogging again. It's been so great! Being outside, working out, running through nature; it keeps me grounded, brings me back to earth. I've been loving it, although I didn't go as often as I wanted to. Maybe I can make myself today? ;) Also working out to music is just awesome. I stop thinking, start listening to the lyrics and just enjoy to "be" (as Jessi wrote in one of her last posts). I guess that's what a lot of people (including me) need to learn: Take a break from daily life sometimes. Relax, look at the little things, start enjoying them. Start grounding yourself. Then you'll love life even more. :)
Love,
Eileen

Summer's here!

Hello there,

some kids drew this on the street, where I live in, with chalk:

Well, you can see that our "Summer" has not been a real Summer. It's been gray and wet. Really gray and wet! I kind of like that because it gets too hot in my room (I don't have airconditioning) and I'm not the shorts-type-girl. So I like summer with 25°C max and a little bit of wind.
But since these girls (and a lot of other people) wanted warm weather and sunshine so bad, voilá: Here it is! (Sadly don't have a picture right now...). It feels good. Lifts up your mood. :) But it's supposed to get rainy again. Not the worst thing in the world for me ;) haha

Love, Eileen
