As some of you know, I am not very good with technology. I suppose I have a bad aura for laptops, tablets, phones... Anything with a battery, really. And it's just been going too well for too long. And so my laptop hard drive decided to quit on me. I am lucky enough to have an amazingly talented and kind friend who saved all the files on my computer and put in a new hard drive. After that I went on vacation and desperately needed a break from everything, including my camera.
But now I am back on track, with challenge number 14: Light Painting:
Light Painting is a little different from Light Graffiti, in that you do not write onto the dark with sparklers, flashlights, and the like. In Light Painting you use the light source as the subject, making it the focal point of your photo. You can use it to set an object into a new light, something you could not do during the daylight. Or you can display movement with it because your aperture has to be very long. You can get really creative with it!
The following is a picture of the coals of a BBQ. It was shot in RAW, so that the usual red colors would have to be added in post-production. But in this case I really like the eerie look of it, so I left it the way it was and just boosted the highlights a little.
For today's challenge photo I used glowing balls as the light source.
