first post of 2011

Wow... I still can't believe it's 2011 already! I don't feel any different which I usually have but oh well ;)

I reflected on this past year in my last post on New Year's Eve and have edited it a little since then. There might still come some more things and pictures throughout the year everytime I think of something.

So how did I celebrate my New Year's Eve 2010/2011?
Well in the evening I had our traditional Christmas/New Year's dinner with my grandparents, my greatgrandma and my sister. It was de-lish like always ;)
Then my grandpa gave me a ride to a friend's house where I stayed over night. After that me and Verena went to the place where we were going to have our party. There were a lot of people I didn't know but it was still a lot of fun! Some were playing the Wii and the others were watching and it was just hilarious! We had some good laughs and a good time! :) Just before midnight we all went outside. We watched the fireworks and stuff and it was beautiful! :)

I called my host family to wish them a happy new year, although it wasn't midnight there yet but oh well ;) It was good talking to all of them! I love them so much! :) I found that my English hasn't gotten as bad as I'd expected. It took me a while to get back into it but in the end it felt like I'd never left :)
My phone bill is going to be epic this month but it was totally worth it ;)
Verena and I were home around 5 ish and we slept til 12:30 or so :D We talked a little and then my grandpa picked me up again. So thanks for driving me around so much!! :)) Love you!

So that was my New Year's or Silvester (that's what we say in German).

I didn't do anything except read, eat and go to the bathroom for the rest of the day ;) I started reading "The last song" by Nicholas Sparks. I've watched the movie in the US for the first time and since my sister got it on DVD in her Christmas calender I've watched it so often I know the lines by heart :D haha
Anyways, I finished the book today and I love it! It is so much different compared to the movie but since I've watched that one first I am not disappointed.. Luckily ;)
I'm kind of wondering if there actually are guys like Will out there... I hope so ;)

So now that I don't have anything to read here at my grandma's, where I'm staying over night, I sat down and thought about what I want to change or start doing this year. I almost wrote a full page of New Years Resolutions but here are just a few:

- blog at least three times a week; I sometimes have been really bad at blogging consistently...
- post highs and lows and favorite songs every weekend
- tell at least three people that I love them and care about them (and also why) every week; I found that I don't do that enough and now that I've read "The last song" I realized that I might not have enough time to do so. Anything could happen any minute and I would regret not having said "I love you" (I hope that doesn't sound too weird.. ;) )
- I want to get at least a B on the paper I am going to write in English
- get a job for Spring break and Summer
- visit my greatgrandma at least once a week; I realized I haven't spend much time with her since I got here, only when she was at my grandma's so I want to change that
- I want to read at least one book every one to two months; I don't have a lot of time to read since I'm a Junior and I almost forgot how much I love it and how relaxing it is

but I think the most important New Years Resolution is this one
- live every day to the fullest and enjoy every moment of this year; collect memories and smile evey day :)

Here are some pictures I took today:

I went for a walk with my grandparents and we saw some blue sky for the first time this Winter. I had to smile the whole walk :). What an amazing start into the new year!

Good night,
Eileen :)
